Biography of APOSTLE RICHARD D. HENTON
Apostle Richard D. Henton was born in Chicago, Illinois and remained a resident for his entire life. He answered God’s call to ministry on December 14, 1948. Although it was a time of segregation and discrimination within the civil rights movement, Henton stood firm in his decision to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His decision was an indication and evidence that adversity and hardship would not stand in the way of his life’s call.
He has been renowned as one of the most prolific, successful and effective leaders of all times. Operating in ministry for 66 years and pastoring for 51 years, proved that Apostle Henton was faithful, dedicated and loyal to God and the nearly 5,000 members he had pastored.
Although, he had a flock of 5,000 members several Christians followed him world-wide. Known to many as their “TV Evangelist”, he had ministered through the medium of television, at various conferences, convocations, conventions and mass meetings throughout America. He has held many specials services with more than 10,000 attendees and acted as keynote speaker for many prominent pastors some of which include: T.D. Jakes, Bishop Carlton Pearson, Evangelist Morris Cerrullo, Bishop O. T. Jones, Sr., Reverend R.W. Shambach, Bishop Charles Blake, and the late Bishop Gilbert E. Patterson.
Apostle Henton is the Executive Producer and Founder of R. D. Henton Breakthrough Ministries and Telecast. This weekly program aired on several world-wide networks including: The Word Network, The Total Living Network, WJYS/TV 62 and WEDE TV34 Detroit. The ministry has an extensive media library of well over 6,000 media products. These audio and visual collectibles are a vast extension of his outreach ministry and is in high-demand throughout the world.
He's the author of several books, I Command You to Live, Christian Warfare, God's Chosen Children of Destiny, God's Masterpiece, Armed for Spiritual Warfare and The Experience, Episode and Encounter of The Holy Ghost.
Henton was a well-respected, highly-esteemed and honored clergyman. He earned three Doctorate of Divinity degrees and received countless honors of distinction and recognition. Some of which include: letters of affirmation from sitting United States of America Presidents, “keys to several cities” granted by mayors, and honorary accolades from congressmen and other dignitaries of the like.
Among the list of noble accolades are two special notables: the N’Digo Foundation Recipient of N’Faith Award and the Luminary Senior Citizen Hall of Faith Award, presented by former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley.
On Thursday, October 22, 2015, Dr. Richard D. Henton made his transition. With several thousand members, accolades, books, television shows, and a humble spirit toward God’s call he finished his mission, a duty avowed as well done.
